Every experiment is captured automatically: command, parameters, seed, code version, environment, outputs. Months later, any figure traces back to the exact recipe that produced it — and replays with one command.

Your server. Your keys. Ciphertext only.

Sync is optional, self-hosted, and end-to-end encrypted. The server — even your own — only ever stores ciphertext.

Local-first. Your data lives on your machine in open formats — Markdown, BibTeX, SQLite, JSON. The app works fully offline; export everything at any time. No lock-in, by construction.
End-to-end encrypted. Your passphrase derives keys that never leave your devices (argon2id + libsodium). Every synced byte — notes, PDFs, metrics — is encrypted before it leaves your machine. A recovery code, shown once, is the only reset path: nobody can read your data for you. That includes us.
Verifiable claims. The server's blindness is enforced by tests that dump its database and grep for plaintext. Sealed logbook entries chain sha-256 hashes so any later edit is detectable. Trust the math, not the marketing.

ResearchOS is in private beta on Linux and Android (Windows/macOS next). You get the desktop app, the companion, the ros CLI, and an invite to a hosted sync server — or instructions to run your own in fifteen minutes.
